Installation view and a few details from Lilian Robls work “Synset Kreis” from 2018. In this work she explores the word “circle” and its meaning by de- and reconstructing it. She doesn’t give historical references, but leaves them out on purpose. A warm voice is narrating as if she is telling a fairytale. “It could be a kind of post-science, where all ‘solid’ knowledge got lost in an apocalypse”, Lilian says.

‘Winning Hearts and Minds’ is a method of strategic warfare, fighting the opponent emotionally, mentally and intellectually, instead of using physical force. For her artwork, Lilian used a teaching video of the US Army Air Forces from the 1940ern, which she then had overridden with her own material.
“kip•pen” by Lilian Robl is about the current feeling within society, that something is about to shift/to overturn (german: kippen), or maybe already has and the feeling of an impending ‘negative turn’. The silhouettes in the video keep changing between human- and object- like shapes.
For the work “Kritter” Lilian Robl developed an abstract drawing in ink about the musical concept of the fugue.
