What themes and motifs do you explore in your art?
Manipulation, failure, distortion and its misinterpretation of language, memory, experience, material and perception. Basically the state of things/objects/thoughts moving and eroding.
What guides your artistic research?
Limitation of access, random encounters in aimless research. Failures that refresh the memory and view on a previously encountered solid states.
What are you working on right now?
Honestly, im cleaning and sorting my studio, cancelling or reconsidering unfinished projects. Very uncreative, but a basic way to end the old and start a new year.
When you feel stuck, how do you get un-stuck?
If I realise that I’m stuck, there are different ways I react; a complete change of scene, physically leaving the room and if that’s no option, metaphysically leaving the room—a bit like changing topic trying to remember a forgotten name. The last resort is deconstruction or turning it upside down, more like switching the work off and on again.
What are you curious about? What would you like to explore further?
Financial independency and bronze sculptures.
What was the last thing that made you laugh out loud?
My 2 year old daughter stating that my favourite colour is brown. Brown and grey are completely underrated.
