Welcome To The World Of Winterberg (13 Min, 2021)
„My name is Bertha Krupp and this is my Crib.“
Nicola Gördes und Stella Rossié take you on an exclusive tour through the domestic sanctuaries that some of today’s most influential families call home.
Da geht bestimmt was schief (Performance, 2020)
“People aren’t counterfeiting five euro bills and ten euro bills it’s usually twenties maybe fifties or hundreds.”
Translation from German:
The Dortmund police asked to observe the following instructions during the performance on 2.8:
1. the artists are only allowed to perform on the sidewalk, in no case on the opposite side, where there is only a guardrail.
2. the paper bills that fall out of the bag must not get near the Huckarder-Strasse. Otherwise accidents could occur if motorists are distracted.
3. there must not be any threatening scenario on Mallinckrodtstrasse that could distract motorists.
4. the site plan is part of the application to the public order office.
DAISY CHOUPETTE (Videowork, 40 Min, 2020)
Text by the artists on their work:
Supposedly authentic video footage from aboard a cruise ship called „Daisy Choupette“ has been leaked to the press by unknown sources. Based on these videos the authorities are currently reconstructing the inexplicable, disastrous disaster occuring earlier aboard the vessel.
Could it be the presumably dead, overweight fashion designer Rudolph Hans Albert Moshammer trying to decipher chemtrail hieroglyphics?
The World‘s Greatest Independent Competitive Eating Championship T.W.G.I.C.E.C. (performance, 2019)
After a three month residency in Detroit (Michigan), Nicola Gördes and Stella Rossié decided to bring a pretty popular event „The Hot Dog Eating Challenge“ to Germany.
Inspired by the sporty American original politicians were eating against non voters, the fire department facing off firemen strippers and civilians combat undercover cops. The management of „Die Deutsche Telekom AG“ eat against the online food delivery company Foodora. Instead of fighting in a fast food restaurant, the teams combat in a gallery space. The event was lead by a celebrity host.
After downing 10 Hot Dogs in 3 minutes „Civilians“ took home our famous Mustard Belt.
Cop2000 (performance, 2019)
Due to German law, German police officers are prohibited from wearing visible tattoos. The Performance Cop2000 debates such restraints and what an official is allowed to wear under their uniform. The gallery’s display window is completely covered with stickers prohibiting certain actions or behaviours.
The majority of these depicts prohibitions concerning objects and actions, organisations and people from and with whom violence can be carried out. In an almost empty exhibition space within the gallery an ordinary chair is handcuffed to a heating pipe. Scattered parts of a police dog handler‘s uniform lie around the chair. There is a walkie-talkieplaced in a shoe from which cryptic instructions can be heard leading to an unknown assignment call.
A Berlin police stripper enters the room from the backdoor and slowly puts on his uniform, then leaves.
Thug Life (performance 2018)
A ghost enters the room and the audience directly tries to disappear to the rescuing sides and doors of the room. Within a few minutes the seemingly safe walls start to open and 30 different ghosts show up one after another. The guests start to behave invisible by standing in the middle of the gallery space while a silent band gives a concert, Justin Bieber and Hana Montana are jingling on two Casios and burning shoes are served as drinks.
