For their work “89 - 17” (2017) Jana Kerima Stolzer and Lex Rütten imagined a world after the impact of a massive asteroid on earth or a similarly destructive event.
“I3oB” and “ALic3” are the names Jana Kerima Stolzer and Lex Rütten gave these two characters seen in the images. The artists came across the case of two ai chatbots who were set up to communicate with each other and started to develop a language among themselves that was no longer understandable to humans. At this point they were shut down. A lot of speculation surrounded the content of these messages. Jana and Lex thought, “what if these ais were in love?” And developed an artwork, the love story between two ais who are given a physical body - but only for short time intervals.
ana Kerima Stolzer and Lex Rütten researched infrastructure, warehouses and their future. The artwork developed from this research: A musical consisting of digital ‘flying masks’ as avatars who sing about topics like connectivity.
